This magnificent Tabriz rug is an authentic expression of Persian knotting art. Originating from the historic city of Tabriz, Persia, renowned for its millennia-old tradition in producing high-quality rugs, this piece embodies artisanal excellence.
Made with hand-carded wool for the pile and a cotton warp, it ensures a soft touch and remarkable durability. Its knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, attests to the fineness of the weave and the richness of detail, with a thickness of approximately 1 cm.
The design features a majestic polychrome central medallion that stands out against the vibrant scarlet red field. The medallion is surrounded by an elaborate all-over design of flowering vines, palmettes, and leaves that unfold harmoniously. Motifs also include elegant boteh (paisley) designs. The main border, in an intense midnight blue, is finely decorated with repeated floral motifs that beautifully frame the rug.
The skillfully balanced colors range from deep red to dark blue, with accents of cream, green, light blue, and gold, creating a sumptuous atmosphere. Small color variations or 'abrash' may be present, attesting to the use of natural dyes and the authenticity of the knotting process.
This rectangular rug is more than just a piece of furniture; it is a work of art that encapsulates centuries of Persian history and culture. Perfect for enriching living rooms, dining rooms, or studies, it will lend an unparalleled touch of luxury and sophistication to your environment.
