This splendid carpet, originating from the renowned tradition of Ardakan in Persia, embodies the elegance and richness of oriental textile art. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, ensuring both durability and a pleasant softness to the touch.
The design is dominated by an imposing central ogival medallion, executed in an intense dark blue, which stands out against the terracotta red field. The medallion is finely decorated with stylized floral motifs, including palmettes, lotus flowers, and swirling leaves, all accented by delicate touches of light blue and ivory. From its structure, two pendents emerge, extending upwards and downwards, further enriching the composition.
The main field, a vibrant red, is densely embroidered with an all-over floral design that includes buds, rosettes, and meandering vines, creating an effect of a lush garden. The dark blue corners mirror the shape of the medallion, harmoniously balancing the overall design.
The main border, also in dark blue, is adorned with a sequence of cartouches and floral rosettes, enclosed between two secondary bands that repeat geometric and vegetal motifs. The masterful use of color, with slight tonal variations suggesting a delicate abrash in the red field, adds depth and authenticity to this piece.
An Ardakan carpet is more than just a furnishing item; it is a work of art that carries millennia of stories and traditions, perfect for bringing warmth and a touch of refined opulence to any environment.
