Immerse yourself in the timeless elegance of the Ardakan rug, a magnificent example originating from Persia. This splendid rectangular rug is a testament to the ancient art of Persian weaving, characterized by a rich and detailed design that captivates the eye.
The central field is dominated by a large, multi-layered medallion, featuring elaborate floral motifs in shades of blue, cream, and light blue, set against a rich, vivid red background. The interior of the medallion is finely decorated, showcasing the artisans' mastery. The corner sections of the field echo the floral motifs of the medallion, creating a harmonious visual balance. The entire field is dotted with a myriad of small flowers, palmettes, and intertwining vines.
The rug is framed by a strikingly wide main border, characterized by palmette and stylized floral motifs on a dark blue background, flanked by narrower secondary borders with minute geometric and floral designs. The color combination, with the deep red of the field, the intense blue and cream of the medallion and border, creates a vibrant and inviting contrast.
Crafted with hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, the Ardakan features a knot density ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, ensuring a robust and durable weave. With a thickness of approximately 1 cm, it offers a soft feel underfoot and excellent wear resistance, making it ideal for adding a touch of luxury and history to any room in the home.
