This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is a superb expression of tribal textile art. Crafted with hand-carded wool, it boasts a robust texture and an unparalleled richness of color, further enhanced by the visible abrash effect in the red field, which testifies to the use of natural dyes and the weaver's skill.
The design is dominated by a large central geometric medallion, cruciform in shape, expanding in four directions, enclosed by elaborate star-shaped motifs and stylized designs. The field is a deep lacquer red, effectively contrasted by details in black, ivory, midnight blue, and earthy tones. The corners feature quarter-medallions that mirror the central motif, creating visual harmony.
The complex, multi-faceted border frames the rug with a series of decorative bands, where serrated motifs and geometric floral stylizations alternate on a dark background. Every knot of this Gorawan, with a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, tells a story of tradition and mastery, making it an ideal work of art to enrich any environment with warmth and character.
