This magnificent Nadjafabad rug, hailing from the renowned Persian artisanal tradition, captivates with its rich details and vibrant colors. Woven with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a high density of 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter, a testament to its exceptional quality and durability. The pile has a comfortable thickness of 1.2 cm.
The design features a majestic central medallion, beautifully elaborated in shades of cream, light blue, and blue, standing out against an intense ruby red field. Surrounding the medallion, a profusion of floral motifs and arabesques fills the entire field, creating an "all-over design" effect that catches the eye. The finely delineated spandrels echo the floral motifs with accents of cream and light blue, adding depth and contrast.
The main border, in a deep navy blue, is adorned with a harmonious succession of palmettes and floral vines, framed by thinner secondary borders that enhance the rug's overall elegance. Every element is executed with precision, reflecting centuries of artisanal mastery. Color variations, known as "abrash," may be present and are an inherent characteristic of hand-knotted rugs, enhancing their authenticity and charm.
A Nadjafabad is a timeless piece that adds warmth, luxury, and a touch of Persian history to any setting, transforming a simple space into a place of refined beauty.
