This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is an authentic work of knotting art that embodies the rich textile tradition of the region. Crafted from hand-carded wool, it features a robust weave and a pleasant texture, a result of meticulous artisanal workmanship.
The design is dominated by an impressive central medallion, whose elaborate geometric and floral decorations stand out against an intense red field. In the four corners, quarter-medallions echo the main motif, creating visual harmony. The field is densely decorated with a myriad of stylized motifs, which seem to "burst" from the central medallion and corner spandrels, balanced across a cream and red background.
The color palette is vibrant and rich, with a deep cardinal red as the predominant hue, balanced by bright cream accents, intense blue details, and touches of golden yellow. The subtle color variations, known as abrash, attest to the use of natural dyes and add depth and unique character to each piece.
A sturdy main border, adorned with a sequence of floral cartouches and geometric patterns, beautifully frames the central design, enclosing the entire composition with elegance. This rug is ideal for adding a touch of sophistication and history to any setting, from classic to contemporary.
