This superb Gorawan rug, originating from the traditional knotting regions of Persia, is a textile work of art that embodies the richness and authenticity of Persian craftsmanship.
Its design is dominated by a majestic central medallion, strongly geometric and stylized, which stands out powerfully against the field. Its angular contours and intricate details are typical of Gorawan artifacts, reflecting a tribal and robust aesthetic. The field, in a vibrant ruby red, is enriched with repetitive and stylized geometric motifs, which seem to emanate from the medallion itself and from the corner sections, also featuring a complementary design.
The color palette is captivating: the deep red of the field is beautifully contrasted by sections in dark indigo blue and an elegant cream/ivory, which illuminates the finer details. There are also accents of ochre and light blue, adding depth. Abrash is visible, a natural variation in shades that testifies to the use of vegetable dyes and artisanal craftsmanship, giving the rug a unique and lived-in character.
Made entirely with hand-carded wool for the pile and a cotton warp, this rug boasts a remarkable knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter. This meticulous workmanship ensures extraordinary robustness and exceptional durability, making it suitable to withstand time and use.
A Gorawan is not just a piece of furniture, but a piece of Persian history and tradition, capable of bestowing warmth, elegance, and a touch of exoticism upon any environment, from classic to contemporary.
