This magnificent Gorawan rug transports us to the heart of ancient Persian tradition. Originating from Persia, it is a textile work of art that embodies centuries of history and artisanal mastery. Its craftsmanship is a superb example of the weavers' skill, utilizing techniques passed down through generations.
Crafted from hand-carded wool, this rug offers a rich and durable texture. The cotton warp ensures stability and resistance. The knot density, between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, attests to the extreme care and precision in weaving, while the 1 cm thickness contributes to its robustness and comfort. Slight color variations, known as abrash, can be observed, which are not flaws but distinctive marks of authenticity and natural wool dyeing, adding depth and character to the piece.
The rug features a striking geometric central medallion that dominates the intense red field. This medallion is surrounded by elaborate geometric and stylized patterns, typical of the Gorawan style. The main colors – vibrant red, deep black, and luminous cream – are enriched by accents of dark blue and earthy tones, creating a powerful and harmonious contrast. The entire design is enclosed by a series of complex borders, echoing the field's motifs and completing the work with elegance. This is not an all-over design, but a well-structured and balanced pattern that captures attention and enriches any setting.
