This magnificent Ardakan Persian rug is a sublime expression of Persian textile art and tradition. Originating from the Ardakan region of Persia, this piece boasts a rich history and craftsmanship of the highest quality.
The central field is dominated by a vibrant terracotta red color, which immediately catches the eye. Upon this background, finely detailed floral motifs, including stylized palmettes, rosettes, and delicate vine scrolls, elegantly intertwine, creating a harmonious and densely decorated design. The focal point is a large, elaborate central medallion, outlined in deep navy blue, which internally features celestial and ivory motifs, adding depth and sophistication to the design.
The corners of the field, or spandrels, echo the shapes and colors of the medallion, balancing the composition. The main border, also in an intense dark blue, is adorned with a sequence of palmettes and floral cartouches, flanked by thinner secondary borders that elegantly define the rug's edges, introducing touches of sky blue and luminous beige.
Made with hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp, this rug features a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter, ensuring robust weaving and excellent durability. The thickness of 1 cm contributes to its softness and resilience. Each knot tells the story of ancient knotting techniques, passed down through generations, imbuing this work with a unique and timeless character.
An Ardakan is more than just a rug; it is a work of art that enhances any environment, bringing with it the elegance and warmth of ancient Persia. Ideal for living rooms, dining rooms, or studies, it will add a touch of timeless luxury and refinement to your home.
