This splendid Ardakan rug, originating from Persia, is a magnificent example of traditional knotting art. Crafted from hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it offers a feeling of warmth and exceptional durability. Its density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm testifies to the fineness and complexity of the weaving, while a thickness of 1 cm gives it a solid yet refined presence.
The design is dominated by an elaborate central medallion, with shades of dark blue and light blue, standing out against the main field of intense red. The field is richly decorated with an all-over design of stylized floral motifs: palmettes, leaves, and flowering branches intertwine harmoniously, creating a lush and timeless atmosphere.
