This magnificent Ardakan Persian rug, originating from ancient Persia, is a textile work of art that captivates with its richness of detail and vibrant colors. It represents the excellence of Persian artisanal tradition, where every knot is a testament to a millennia-old history.
Its central field, dominated by a deep shade of terracotta red, is enriched with an intricate all-over floral design, featuring stylized palmettes, rosettes, and vine leaves. At the center, a striking lozenge-shaped medallion stands out, outlined in dark blue and adorned with minute floral motifs and a small central pendant in light ivory and sky blue tones. The four corners of the field echo the design and colors of the central medallion, creating a harmonious symmetry.
The refined border is composed of several minor bands and a wider main band, also decorated with a succession of floral motifs and cartouches, in chromatic contrast with the field. Dominant hues include red, night blue, sky blue, and ivory. Crafted from hand-carded wool, this rug boasts a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of 1 cm, giving it robustness and unparalleled softness. The cotton warp ensures stability and longevity. It may exhibit a slight `abrash` effect, a distinctive sign of the authenticity and natural dyeing of the wool.
An Ardakan is more than just a rug; it is an element that adds warmth, history, and an atmosphere of traditional luxury to any room, making it the focal point.
