This magnificent Gorawan rug transports us directly into the rich textile traditions of Persia. A hand-knotted work of art that expresses the robustness and authenticity of tribal rugs.
The rug features an imposing, finely outlined geometric central medallion that dominates the intense red field. The quarter-medallion corner pieces echo the main design, creating a harmonious symmetry. The field is densely decorated with a myriad of stylized geometric motifs and abstract figures, typical of the Heriz-Gorawan region's craftsmanship. The wide, also geometric, main border elegantly frames the rug, with contrasting sequences of stylized rosettes and angular shapes.
The color palette is vibrant and rich, dominated by a deep terracotta red, enriched with accents of midnight blue, ivory cream, black, and brown. The presence of abrash (variations in shade within the same color) is a distinguishing mark of the use of natural dyes and the artisanal weaving process, lending the rug a unique character and extraordinary visual depth. Made from hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, it ensures exceptional durability and softness.
With a knot density ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, this Gorawan rug is not merely a decorative element, but an investment in beauty and longevity. Each knot tells a story of skill and passion, making it an ideal piece to enrich classic environments or to add a touch of warmth and authenticity to modern spaces.
