This magnificent example of a Qashqai rug transports us to the heart of the nomadic traditions of southwestern Persia. Hand-knotted by the women of the tribe, this rug is a work of art that encapsulates centuries of history and symbolism. The field, dominated by an intense terracotta red with evident color variations (abrash) that attest to the use of natural dyes and the authenticity of the knotting process, features a large central diamond medallion in deep blue, outlined by a sawtooth border.
The medallion is finely decorated with a stylized motif, while the red field is populated by a myriad of small geometric, stylized animal (birds, quadrupeds) and floral motifs, distributed in a spontaneous and lively manner, typical of tribal art. The corners of the blue field host decorative elements similar to quarter-medallions, balancing the composition. The main border, on a cream background, is adorned with a sequence of rosettes and stylized leaves, framed by minor guard borders that echo the field's tones.
The wool used for the pile is of excellent quality, lustrous and durable, a hallmark of Qashqai rugs, known for their longevity and soft feel. The colors are derived from vegetable pigments, giving the rug a depth and vibrancy that endure over time. This Qashqai is a unique piece, perfect for anyone wishing to add a touch of history, warmth, and authentic craftsmanship to their home.
