Presenting a superb Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, an authentic expression of ancient Persian textile art. This example stands out for its rich colors and the complexity of its design, making it a piece of great value and aesthetic impact.
The main field is dominated by a vibrant red color, a classic in Persian productions, embellished with an intricate all-over design of stylized floral motifs, rosettes, and leaves, which develop harmoniously. The weave features subtle color variations, known as abrash, testifying to the use of natural dyes and the artisanal processing of the wool, giving the rug a unique and authentic character.
At the center of the rug, an impressive polychrome medallion stands out, precisely delineated and filled with complex floral and geometric patterns. Shades of dark blue, red, cream, with touches of light blue and ochre, create a fascinating contrast with the underlying red field. The corners of the rug echo decorative elements of the central medallion, balancing the entire composition.
The border is composed of several bands: the main band, on a dark blue ground, features a succession of finely detailed floral cartouches and geometric motifs, while the secondary bands delineate the whole with 'S' motifs and delicate rosettes.
Crafted from high-quality hand-carded wool with a cotton warp, this rug is hand-knotted with a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of approximately 1 cm. Its durability and material quality ensure a long lifespan and maintenance of beauty over time, making it an elegant investment for any setting.
