This splendid Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, embodies the essence of nomadic and tribal craftsmanship from the Hamadan region. Crafted with hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, it offers an unmistakable robustness and softness, typical of artifacts from this area.
The design is dominated by a large central geometric medallion, characteristic of many Gorawan rugs, with serrated edges that stand out against a vibrant field. The rich and deep color palette includes burnt terracotta red, intense indigo blue, and cream, enriched with touches of light blue and brown. The abrash effect, evident in some areas, gives an authentic charm and unique color depth, bearing witness to natural dyeing and artisanal work.
The main field and corners are populated by stylized geometric motifs and tribal symbols, narrating ancient stories and traditions. The frame is composed of multiple distinct borders: a main band adorned with stylized rosette and leaf designs, flanked by secondary guard borders with continuous patterns. Every detail is a celebration of the ancient Persian textile tradition.
With a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of about 1 cm, this rug is not just a piece of furniture, but a piece of history capable of giving warmth and character to any environment, an authentic expression of Persian culture.
