This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, is an excellent example of Persian craftsmanship. Made with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, ensuring exceptional strength and durability over time. Its 1 cm thickness provides a feeling of solidity and comfort.
The rug is dominated by an imposing central medallion and four corner spandrels, all richly decorated with stylized geometric motifs. The main field is filled with meticulous and interconnected designs, in typical Gorawan tribal style. The color combination, primarily terracotta red, black, and cream, is enriched with touches of deep blue and brown, creating a fascinating visual contrast. The ancient tradition of manual dyeing is evident through the phenomenon of abrash, subtle variations in tone that add depth and unique character to the rug.
The multi-layered border elegantly frames the rug, featuring repeated geometric motifs that echo the field's design. This Gorawan is not just a furnishing item, but a piece of history and culture, capable of transforming any environment with its majestic presence and authentic beauty.
