This splendid Gorawan rug, originating from the renowned artisanal tradition of Persia, is a textile work of art that captivates with its richness of detail and vibrant colors. Made with hand-carded wool, it features a cotton warp that ensures its robustness and longevity. The knot density, ranging from 160,000 to 200,000 knots per square meter, testifies to the excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail, while its thickness of approximately 1 cm guarantees a feeling of softness and warmth underfoot.
The design is characterized by an imposing central geometric medallion, in intense blue and red hues, which dominates the field and radiates with star-like and angular motifs. The field, in a vibrant terracotta red, is enriched with an all-over design of small geometries and stylized figures, creating a dynamic contrast with the large light ivory corner spandrels. Multiple borders frame the rug with elegance: a main one featuring a stylized geometric vine motif and several secondary borders with more discreet patterns, accentuating the complexity of the artifact.
The use of hand-carded wool and vegetable dyes gives this rug a fascinating abrash – those slight variations in shade that tell the story of its creation and add depth to the color. Perfect for adding warmth and a touch of authentic oriental tradition to any setting, from classic to contemporary.
