This superb Gorawan rug, originating from ancient Persia, embodies the rich weaving tradition of this renowned region. Every fiber tells a story, skillfully and passionately woven by the finest artisans, making each piece unique and precious.
Crafted entirely from hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp, this rug stands out for its exceptional softness and durability. The hand-spun wool enhances the depth and chromatic variation, with the abrash effect giving the red central field an unmistakable vitality and dynamism. The knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, attests to the high quality and longevity of this work.
The design is dominated by a geometric central medallion, with stepped outlines and intricate details, immediately drawing the eye. The vibrant red field is enriched with an all-over design of stylized motifs, reminiscent of intertwined blossoms and leaves in a complex pattern, often a tribal interpretation of the Herati motif. The cream-colored spandrels echo and amplify parts of the medallion's geometry, balancing the composition. The main border, in midnight blue, is adorned with an elegant sequence of cartouches and geometric rosettes, magnificently framing the entire piece.
With a thickness of 1 cm, this rug is not only visually stunning but also offers a pleasant feel underfoot, adding warmth and an atmosphere of luxury to any setting. It is a piece that transcends a mere furnishing item, becoming a true masterpiece of textile art that enhances any space.
