This splendid hand-knotted rug stands out for its vibrant geometric design and rich color palette. Its origin likely lies in the artisanal traditions of the Caucasus or Eastern Anatolia regions, reflecting the authenticity and mastery of nomadic or semi-nomadic peoples.
The main field is dominated by an intense cyclamen red, embellished with an all-over design of small stars and stylized floral motifs, arranged with regularity but with the slight variations typical of artisanal weaving (a phenomenon known as abrash). At the center, a large diamond medallion rises majestically, its dark blue background creating a strong contrast. This medallion is rich in intricate details, hooked shapes, and smaller geometric elements in cream, red, and blue.
In the corners of the field, on the so-called spandrels, the dark blue color reappears, hosting figures of stylized birds looking towards the central medallion. The intricate, multi-layered borders beautifully frame the rug. The inner border features a series of white stars on a red background, while the outer one is characterized by repeated geometric motifs in shades of brown, ochre, and cream, adding depth and complexity to the overall design.
A work of art that carries millennia-old stories and traditions, perfect for adding a touch of warmth and authenticity to any room.
