This magnificent Nadjafabad rug transports us to the heart of ancient Persia with its refined beauty. Originating from the region of the same name, it represents an excellent expression of Persian knotting art, known for its quality and complex designs.
The field, in a vibrant red, achieved with natural dyes that often display a subtle abrash effect, is dominated by a splendid eight-pointed central medallion, elegantly outlined in dark blue and cream. This medallion encloses a delicate floral motif that radiates outwards. The entire field is richly adorned with an intricate design of flowering vines, palmettes, and arabesques, extending gracefully around the medallion.
The main border, in a deep night blue, features a succession of stylized cartouches and floral motifs, interspersed with thinner secondary borders that echo tones of red, cream, and light blue. The high-quality hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp, gives the rug unparalleled robustness and softness, while the high knot density (160,000-200,000 knots/sqm) testifies to the artisan's mastery. With a thickness of 1.2 cm, it offers a luxurious and comfortable feel underfoot, perfect for enriching any room with a touch of timeless elegance.
