This splendid Tabriz rug, originating from Persia, embodies the rich tradition of Persian knotting, distinguishing itself with its meticulous craftsmanship and vibrant color scheme. Made with hand-carded wool for the pile and a cotton warp, it offers a soft yet resilient texture. With a density ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of approximately 1 cm, it is a valuable piece that promises durability and comfort.
The design features a magnificent polylateral central medallion, where dark blue and ivory tones predominate, enriched with floral and stylized details. The main field is dominated by a vibrant ruby red and showcases an elaborate all-over design of intricate floral motifs: meandering vines, elegant palmettes, rosettes, and leaves unfold harmoniously, creating a luxurious atmosphere. In the corners, spandrels in the shape of a quarter medallion echo the light colors and floral motifs of the central medallion, creating visual balance.
The border is composed of several bands. The main band, in a deep midnight blue, is decorated with a continuous arabesque of palmettes and vegetal elements. The minor bands delicately enclose the whole, often with smaller or geometric motifs, emphasizing the complexity of the overall design. The subtle color variation, or abrash, adds a touch of authenticity and charm, bearing witness to the artisanal nature of the dyeing process. This Tabriz is not just a rug, but a textile work of art that will enhance any room with its warmth and history.
