This splendid Ardakan rug, originating from Persia, is a sublime expression of traditional knotting art. Characterized by a rich red field, the design is dominated by a majestic central medallion, expertly delineated and adorned with complex floral motifs and arabesques. Four quarter-medallion spandrels echo the central design, creating an enveloping visual harmony.
The entire surface of the rug is a triumph of stylized floral motifs, gracefully intertwined, populating the field with a myriad of rosettes, palmettes, and tendrils. The complex main border, in a deep navy blue, also features an elaborate succession of floral decorations, framed by narrower secondary borders that further define the space and elegance of the artifact.
Crafted with high-quality hand-carded wool and a cotton warp, this rug boasts a knot density ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, a testament to exceptional artisanal skill. The pile height of approximately 1 cm provides a soft yet durable texture. Each knot tells a story, making every Ardakan a unique piece capable of adding a touch of elegance and warmth to any environment, from classic to more contemporary.
