This magnificent Gorawan rug originates from the Persian region, renowned for its ancient knotting tradition. Each Gorawan is a unique specimen, the result of artisanal mastery passed down through generations. Crafted from hand-carded wool, this rug stands out for its robustness and its soft, rich texture. The weave, with a cotton warp, ensures a solid structure, while its density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm attest to its exceptional quality and durability.
The design of this Gorawan features an imposing central star-shaped medallion, rich in geometric details and stylized botanical motifs, which dominates the deep red field. The corners display spandrel patterns that harmonize with the center, creating a captivating visual balance. The multi-layered borders frame the entire composition with a series of smaller geometric and stylized floral designs, typical of Persian textile art from this area. The color palette is vibrant: a deep brick red for the field, combined with dark blue, black, and ivory cream, with accents of light blue and warmer tones. A subtle abrash effect may be observed, a distinctive sign of rugs knotted with natural dyes that evolves over time, adding depth and character. A Gorawan rug is more than just a decorative item; it's a piece that carries the atmosphere and history of an ancient culture.
