This magnificent Gorawan rug, originating from Persia, embodies the rich tradition of Persian craftsmanship. Made with hand-carded wool, featuring a cotton warp, it boasts a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of about 1 cm, ensuring softness and durability over time.
The design is dominated by a majestic central geometric medallion, intricate and symmetrical, standing out against a predominantly red field. This medallion is surrounded by a myriad of stylized floral motifs and geometric details, arranged with great skill. The main field is enriched with an all-field design of botanical elements and arabesques, often interrupted by light cream/ivory areas that create a strong visual contrast.
The color palette is vibrant and typical of Persian rugs: an intense red predominates, flanked by cream, ivory, and touches of dark blue and black that delineate the contours and add depth. There are also accents of orange and light brown. Slight color variations, known as abrash, may be observed, testifying to the use of natural dyes and the authenticity of a handcrafted piece.
The well-defined borders feature minor bands with repeated geometric and floral motifs, elegantly framing the central design. This rug is a textile work of art that adds a touch of sophistication and warmth to any environment, perfect for those seeking a unique piece of history and culture.
