This magnificent Ghom silk rug, originating from Persia, is a sublime example of Oriental knotting art. Crafted with meticulous care and the highest quality materials, it represents a masterpiece of design and artisanal skill.
The central field, in a delicate ivory tone, hosts an intricate all-over design depicting a vivid hunting scene. Horsemen skillfully mounted on steeds are immersed in a lush forest, populated by a multitude of animals such as deer, gazelles, leopards, and rabbits, while fantastic birds perch among flowering branches. Every detail is rendered with extraordinary precision, from the attire of the hunters to the expressions of the animals, and the delicacy of the floral motifs intertwined throughout the composition. The colors are a triumph of delicate hues, with the ivory field illuminated by reds, pinks, blues, and greens, while the border shines in a warm terracotta red.
The main border, in a sumptuous terracotta red, is embellished with elegant calligraphic cartouches and a succession of vegetal and zoomorphic motifs, perfectly framing the central scene. The secondary borders, with their stylized patterns, complete the overall harmony of the rug.
Entirely hand-knotted in 100% silk (including the warp), this Ghom boasts an exceptional density of 800,000-900,000 knots/sqm, which gives it unparalleled silkiness and brilliance. The pile has a thickness of approximately 0.3 cm, revealing the fineness of the knotting and the preciousness of the material. A piece of rare beauty that will add a touch of luxury and history to any interior.
