This magnificent Bidjar rug, originating from Persia, is a superb example of traditional textile art, celebrated for its extraordinary durability and vibrant designs.
Bidjar rugs are renowned for their exceptional robustness, stemming from the use of high-quality hand-carded wool and a dense weave, making them almost indestructible. The cotton warp ensures stability and resilience. With a density of approximately 400,000-450,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of 1.4 cm, this rug is built to last, preserving its beauty over time.
The design is dominated by an elaborate central medallion, surrounded by a richly decorated field featuring stylized floral motifs and the classic boteh pattern. The color palette, though complex, is harmonious, with a prevalence of deep red, luminous cream, and details in dark blue and burnt sienna. The finely designed borders frame the rug, adding depth and sophistication to the overall decorative scheme.
Each knot tells a story, each color – with its slight tonal variations, known as abrash – attests to the authenticity of natural dyes and artisanal skill. A Bidjar rug is not merely a furnishing accessory but a work of art that infuses warmth and character into any room, enhancing the atmosphere with its majestic presence.
