This magnificent rug, originating from the ancient city of Abadeh in Persia, is a work of art that embodies the rich nomadic textile tradition. Crafted with hand-carded wool (cotton warp) and featuring a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1 cm, it offers unmistakable robustness and softness.
The design is dominated by a large, diamond-shaped central medallion, a classic tribal motif, which stands out vibrantly on a fiery red field. This medallion encloses a more elaborate design with stylized floral motifs and delicate shades of cream, light blue, and orange. The red field is densely populated with geometric, stylized zoomorphic elements and amulets, narrating stories and beliefs of the Qashqai tribes, with whom Abadeh rugs are often associated.
The main border, in an intense dark blue, is also enriched by a succession of geometric motifs that create a harmonious and well-defined chromatic contrast. The thin secondary borders feature "wolf's tooth" patterns and other small tribal elements. The use of hand-carded wool and natural dyes gives the rug a unique character, highlighting the subtle color variations, known as abrash, which enhance its authenticity and artisanal charm. An Abadeh rug is ideal for those seeking a piece of history and tradition to integrate into a classic or modern setting, imparting warmth and a timeless atmosphere.
