This splendid Ilaam rug, originating from Persia, is a magnificent example of Persian knotting art. Crafted with a precious combination of wool and silk, on a cotton warp, it features a very high density of 500,000-600,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 0.8 cm, which give it exceptional robustness and softness.
The intense navy blue field of the rug is dominated by a rich design that evokes the image of a stylized Tree of Life, emerging from a central vase, flanked by numerous other vases and pitchers gracefully scattered throughout. This motif is enriched by a profusion of floral details, including palmettes, buds, and sinuous leaves, which intertwine in a complex floral design, covering the entire field surface and creating a lush and harmonious atmosphere. Vibrant colors such as coral red, orange, mint green, and sky blue stand out beautifully against the dark background, illuminating every detail.
The main border, a warm ruby red, is decorated with repeated and stylized floral motifs, interspersed with vases and cartouches, elegantly framing the central field. Narrower secondary borders, in cream and blue tones, complete the composition, adding depth and definition. The presence of a slight abrash (color variation) attests to the authenticity and artisanal craftsmanship of this unique piece.
The Ilaam rug is an authentic statement of style, capable of infusing warmth, elegance, and history into any environment, from classic to contemporary.
