This textile masterpiece is a magnificent example of a Gholtugh rug, originating from the traditional weaving regions of Persia. Characterized by a robust structure and vibrant aesthetics, it is hand-knotted with hand-carded wool, ensuring a rich texture and exceptional longevity. The cotton warp contributes to the rug's stability.
The design features an impressive, star-shaped central medallion, finely outlined and filled with stylized floral details and geometric motifs. Matching corner spandrels mirror elements of the main field, creating a sense of balance and harmony. The deep red field, punctuated by chromatic elements such as dark blue, cream, and touches of black and brown, is enclosed by intricate borders that enhance its complexity and beauty. Subtle variations in color, known as abrash, attest to the use of natural dyes and the artisanal authenticity of each piece.
With a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of 1.2 cm, this Gholtugh is not only a decorative item but also a piece of Persian history and culture, capable of imbuing any space with warmth and character.
