This magnificent Bidjar rug, originating from the renowned region of Persia, is a textile work of art that embodies the robustness and beauty of Persian tradition. Bidjar rugs are celebrated for their exceptional durability, due to their compact pile and unique knotting technique that makes them almost indestructible. This exemplar is no exception, boasting a density of 400,000-450,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.4 cm, ensuring unparalleled resistance to time and wear.
Made with high-quality hand-spun wool on a cotton warp, it features vibrant color intensity and a rich texture. The hand-spun wool gives the pile a natural sheen and a graceful aging capacity, sometimes developing slight color variations, known as "abrash," which attest to its authenticity and craftsmanship.
The design of this rug is characterized by an imposing central diamond medallion, enclosed by a series of internal borders that echo its shape, creating an effect of depth and perspective. The main field is dominated by an intricate all-over design of stylized floral motifs, often comparable to Mina Khani, which extends harmoniously around the medallion. The color palette is rich, with dominant shades of intense and dark red, enriched by cream beige details and subtle dark brown accents, which outline the contours of the motifs and add depth to the ensemble. The outer border completes the work with a classic motif of floral vines and stylized rosettes, on a light beige background, beautifully framing the field.
