Originating from the city of the same name in Persia, the Bidjar rug is renowned for its incredible robustness and density. Nicknamed the "Iron Forge" due to its compact structure and exceptional wear resistance, every Bidjar is an investment destined to last generations. This particular piece was knotted with hand-carded wool, ensuring a rich texture and unparalleled longevity.
The design features a distinctive large diamond-shaped central medallion, gracefully dominating the field. Within the medallion and in the surrounding field, intricate stylized floral motifs, typical of Persian tradition, unfold, creating a rich visual effect. The well-defined border echoes elements of the main field with a succession of geometric and floral patterns.
The vibrant yet harmonious colors range from the deep terracotta red of the background and outer medallion to the light beige of the inner medallion, enriched with dark blue and brown details that outline the motifs. The tonal variations, or "abrash", visible in some areas, attest to the use of natural dyes and the authenticity of a completely hand-knotted artwork.
With a density of 400,000-450,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.4 cm, this Bidjar is not just a furnishing item, but a piece of Persian history and craftsmanship that will bring warmth and character to any room. The warp is made of cotton, a detail that contributes to the rug's stability and compactness.
