This splendid Mashad rug, hailing from ancient Persia, is a textile work of art that captivates with its richness of detail and profound chromatic harmony. Its handcrafted construction, with hand-spun wool knotted on a cotton warp, testifies to a centuries-old tradition of excellence.
The central field is dominated by an elaborate medallion that gracefully expands, surrounded by a lavish all-over pattern. Stylized flowers, refined palmettes, and ornamental vases intertwine in an an explosion of floral motifs that fill the deep dark blue background. Every detail is meticulously executed, creating an effect of movement and depth that captures the eye.
The multi-layered and richly decorated borders elegantly frame the rug, echoing and enriching the floral motifs of the central field. The predominant shades of midnight blue and ruby red are skillfully balanced by cream accents and touches of light blue, imbuing the rug with an aura of nobility and warmth. The knot density, ranging from 160,000 to 200,000 knots/sqm, and the thickness of 1.1 cm, attest to its remarkable quality and durability.
A Mashad rug like this is not just a furnishing accessory but a piece of history and culture, capable of imbuing spaces with an atmosphere of refined elegance and timeless luxury.
