This magnificent Sarough rug, originating from Persia, embodies the richness and sophistication of traditional textile art. Known for their exceptional durability and sumptuous designs, Sarough rugs are among the most highly regarded oriental artifacts.
The rug features a classic design with an elaborate central medallion, which captures the eye with its floral complexity. The field is adorned with an all-over floral pattern of delicate palmettes, rosettes, and flowering vines, arranged in harmonious symmetry on a bright cream-colored background. The color palette is vibrant, dominated by the ruby red of the borders, the cream of the field, and accents of blue, gold, and green that enrich the floral details.
The multiple borders elegantly frame the field, with the main border repeating stylized floral motifs and contours that reflect artisanal mastery. The presence of subtle color variations, known as abrash, attests to the use of natural dyes and the authenticity of the hand-knotting process.
Made with hand-carded wool, this rug boasts remarkable resistance and a unique softness to the touch. The cotton warp ensures structural stability. With a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of about 1.2 cm, it is an excellent example of the quality and care put into its creation. An ideal piece to enrich any environment with elegance and history.
