This splendid example of a Persian rug, originating from the renowned region of Ardakan in Persia, embodies the elegance and artisanal mastery of Eastern textile tradition.
The rug features a classic design with a central medallion, the undisputed protagonist of the composition. The main field is dominated by a vibrant red color, embellished in the center by a large medallion in shades of blue, cream, and accents of pink and light blue. Four symmetrical corner spandrels, echoing part of the medallion's design, enrich the corners of the red field.
The area outside the central medallion and corner spandrels is characterized by a cream-beige background, upon which an all-over design of delicate arabesques and stylized floral motifs in dark blue unfolds, creating a harmonious and deep contrast. The entire composition is enclosed by a rich multi-band border, with floral vines and stylized rosettes, magnificently framing the central design.
Made with hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, this rug stands out for its quality and durability. The knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots per square meter, testifies to the fineness of its execution. The thickness of approximately 1 cm contributes to a feeling of robustness and softness. Possible slight color variations (abrash) add a touch of authenticity and charm, resulting from natural dyeing and artisanal processing.
A textile work of art that brings a touch of luxury and history to any environment.
