This splendid rug, a Kerman exemplar of Persian origin, embodies the elegance and richness of oriental textile art. Its composition of hand-spun wool, with a cotton warp, guarantees a soft texture and lasting durability. The dense knotting, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, and a thickness of 1 centimeter, bear witness to meticulous artisanal craftsmanship.
The central field is dominated by a vibrant ruby red, serving as a background for an elaborate floral design. At the center, a large medallion stands out with stylized motifs and details in dark blue, beige, and light blue, surrounded by an abundance of palmettes, rosettes, and small vegetal motifs that harmoniously radiate across the entire surface of the rug, creating an all-over design effect.
The main border, in an intense midnight blue, is enriched with a succession of boteh (or paisley) and stylized floral motifs, outlined by subtle secondary bands in red and beige. The outermost and innermost borders feature minor geometric and vegetal patterns, beautifully framing the central field and enhancing its colors.
The skillful use of color, with the deep red contrasting with the dark blue and the delicate shades of beige and light blue, gives the rug a regal and sophisticated atmosphere. A work of art that transforms any environment, adding warmth, history, and an unmistakable touch of Persian luxury.
