This splendid Persian Mashad rug, originating from Persia, is a textile work of art that captivates with its richness of details and colors. Mashad carpets are renowned for their robustness and the refinement of their designs.
Made with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.1 cm, ensuring durability and a pleasant feel. The main color, an intense and vibrant red, dominates the field, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
A finely crafted, large medallion stands out at the center, enriched with stylized floral motifs in shades of dark blue, beige, and cream. The surrounding field is permeated by an elegant all-over design of volutes, palmettes, rosettes, and other botanical elements, extending harmoniously to the borders. The skillful use of abrash adds depth and character to the red tones, making each section of the rug unique.
The border consists of a main band with a dark blue background, populated by a succession of floral motifs and cartouches, flanked by several thinner secondary bands that echo the colors and details of the central field, completing the sumptuous aesthetic of this artifact.
