This magnificent Sarough rug, originating from Persia, is a superb example of traditional textile art. Crafted with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it boasts a high density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 1.2 cm, ensuring durability and softness.
Design and Colors
The rug is dominated by a diamond-shaped central medallion, which stands out against a field of intense brick red. The medallion and corners feature a cream/ivory base, richly decorated with small stylized geometric and floral motifs. The field outside the medallion presents an elegant all-over design with floral elements and "boteh" stylizations. The well-defined borders are a deep navy blue, enhanced by elaborate bands with classic decorations.
