This magnificent Kashan rug, originating from historical Persia, embodies the elegance and richness of oriental manufacturing tradition. Crafted from hand-carded wool, a process that enhances its softness and natural luster, it features a cotton warp to ensure strength and durability over time. Its knot density, estimated between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, attests to the high quality of the weaving and the meticulous craftsmanship, giving the artifact a compact and detailed appearance.
With a thickness of 1.2 cm, it offers a pleasant texture and good wear resistance. The central field is characterized by a refined all-over floral design, where stylized palmette and rosette motifs interlace in a harmonious and repeated grid. The predominant colors are a bright cream for the background, combined with intense tones of blue, burgundy, and red, with lighter shades of light blue and pink adding depth and vibrancy to the complex decoration. The border, also richly decorated, echoes the floral motifs with a main band of sinuous vines and flowers, framed by narrower guard bands with geometric or stylized patterns that recall the central field's color scheme.
Abrash, though subtle, may be present, testifying to the use of natural dyes and the uniqueness of each individual wool batch, giving the rug an authentic and vibrant character. This Kashan is a textile work of art that brings the Persian atmosphere and history into any environment, adding a touch of luxury and refinement.
