This magnificent Kilim, originating from Afghanistan, is a superb example of the ancient art of hand weaving. Crafted with hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, it boasts exceptional quality and remarkable durability. The density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 0.3 cm attest to the fineness of the flatweave technique.
The design features tribal geometric motifs, with a large central rhomboid medallion composed of stylized X-shapes and butterfly-like elements. The dominant color palette showcases a vibrant orange as the background, enriched by shades of yellow, cream, and soft pink, creating a warm and inviting visual effect. Subtle color variations, known as abrash, add depth and authenticity, characteristic of hand-made rugs with natural dyes.
Ideal for enriching any setting with a touch of culture and tradition, this Kilim is not just a rug, but a piece of history that carries the allure of Afghan craftsmanship.
