This magnificent Kilim, originating from Afghanistan, is a splendid example of traditional textile craftsmanship, reinterpreted with a vibrant and contemporary color palette. Its aesthetic is a fusion of the ancestral charm of tribal designs and a chromatic freshness that makes it perfect for both modern and classic environments.
Primarily crafted from hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp, this Kilim offers exceptional robustness and durability. The flatweave technique gives the rug a smooth, lightweight surface, ideal for placement in any room, from the living room to the bedroom, or as an original decorative wall hanging. The density of 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm, though unusual for a flatweave, indicates a particularly dense and resilient weave, with a thickness of just 0.3 cm, highlighting its flat and versatile nature.
The rug features an all-over geometric design, where diamonds and triangles of various sizes alternate in a complex yet harmonious succession of shapes. The dominant red-orange tones blend with lighter pink and coral shades, creating a dynamic and inviting visual effect. The abrash, the slight color variations inherent in natural dyeing and artisanal weaving, adds depth and unique character to each piece, making it an unrepeatable work of art.
Its square shape makes it versatile for defining spaces or adding a touch of warmth and personality under a coffee table or in a reading nook. A Kilim that is not just a rug, but a story of culture and craftsmanship, capable of imbuing any space with a welcoming and sophisticated atmosphere.
