Discover the fascinating beauty of this original Kilim from Afghanistan, a unique piece that embodies centuries of artisanal tradition. Masterfully woven using hand-carded wool for the pile and cotton for the warp, this rug is a superb example of flatweave artistry, typical of Kilims. Its manufacturing technique ensures ideal durability and lightness, making it perfect for any environment.
The design of this Kilim is a triumph of tribal geometric motifs. The central field features an elegant natural beige background, enriched by three large diamond-shaped medallions, arranged vertically and framed by intricate red and white geometries. Around the medallions, a multitude of smaller symbols and designs, in shades of light blue, orange, and yellow, are harmoniously distributed, telling ancient stories of nomadic peoples. The entire composition is bordered by a wide, intense red band, decorated with a continuous series of arrow-point and triangle motifs, which accentuates the distinctive character of the rug.
Color variations, known as abrash, are natural and testify to the use of vegetable dyes and the manual processing of the wool, imbuing each Kilim with a vibrant soul and an inimitable charm. With a density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm (though a Kilim, this data indicates a particularly dense and robust weave) and a thickness of only 0.3 cm, this rug is practical and versatile, capable of infusing a warm and authentic atmosphere into any space, from a modern living room to a more rustic setting. A true masterpiece that combines aesthetics and history.
