A magnificent Kilim, originating from Afghanistan, represents an authentic expression of traditional textile art. Carefully crafted from hand-carded wool, this rug features a robust weave (cotton warp), ensuring durability and consistency. Its density ranges between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, with a thickness of approximately 0.3 cm.
The central field is dominated by a vibrant all-over pattern of geometric diamonds, skillfully outlined by a creamy white border. Each diamond contains a stylized and intricate motif, characterized by an explosion of vivid colors: shades of turquoise blue, emerald green, ochre yellow, brick red, purple, and brown blend harmoniously, creating a dynamic and captivating visual effect. The slight color variation between different sections, known as 'abrash', adds depth and character, testifying to the artisanal nature of the wool dyeing.
The border consists of a wide and richly decorated band, echoing the predominant orange tones and including a sequence of stylized geometric and floral motifs, also embellished with a heterogeneous color palette that blends well with the central field.
This Kilim is a work of art that infuses warmth and personality into any setting, ideal for both traditional and contemporary furnishings, adding a touch of exoticism and history.
