This magnificent Afghan Kilim is a vibrant expression of Afghanistan's ancient textile tradition. Crafted with hand-carded wool for the pile and a cotton warp, it embodies artisanal mastery and attention to detail. Its flatweave construction makes it lightweight and durable, perfect for enriching any room.
The design features an all-over pattern of octagonal medallions. Each medallion, framed by a delicate border, encloses complex geometric motifs. The predominant field colors are a warm reddish-orange, harmoniously blending with the variety of pastel colors found in the medallions: light blue, mint green, ochre yellow, antique pink, and light purple. This chromatic combination creates a welcoming and lively atmosphere, typical of ethnic craftsmanship.
The details of the outer border echo the internal geometric motifs, completing the rug's aesthetic. Color variations, known as "abrash," are a distinctive sign of natural dyeing and add depth and character to this unique piece. With a density ranging from 160,000 to 200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of only 0.3 cm, this Kilim is an excellent example of durability and authentic beauty.
Perfect for adding a touch of color and history to living rooms, studies, or bedrooms, this Kilim is not just a rug, but a true piece of culture and tradition.
