The Moud rug, originating from Persia, is a sublime example of Eastern weaving art. The piece in the image showcases masterful craftsmanship and an enchanting aesthetic, making it a true treasure for the home. Its durability and the sophistication of its design make it ideal for enriching both classic and contemporary interiors.
This magnificent rug features a deep midnight blue field, which serves as a backdrop to an elaborate central medallion. This medallion, characterized by rich terracotta and beige tones, is adorned with a profusion of stylized floral motifs, leaves, and rosettes. The entire field is then densely populated with an all-over design, often in Herati or Mahi style, composed of delicate palmettes, lotus flowers, and arabesques. The composition creates an effect of great harmony and depth, typical of the high Persian tradition.
Crafted from excellent quality hand-carded wool, which gives it unmistakable softness and luster, the rug has a cotton warp that ensures structural stability. The knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, attests to the extreme care and precision in its execution. With a thickness of 1.4 cm, it offers significant comfort and great resistance to wear. Each Moud is a unique piece, where slight color variations (abrash) add a touch of authenticity and history.
