This magnificent Sarough rug, originating from Persia, is a sublime example of Oriental textile art. Crafted from fine hand-carded wool, knotted on a cotton warp, it boasts a high density of 160,000-200,000 knots per square meter and a thickness of 1.2 cm, ensuring durability and a pleasant feel underfoot.
The design features an imposing, central medallion in a lozenge shape, colored navy blue, finely decorated with stylized floral motifs, dominating the main field. The rest of the field showcases a rich all-over floral design of flowering shrubs, palmettes, rosettes, and delicate tendrils that intertwine gracefully, creating a lush atmosphere. The color palette is dominated by a warm brick red or terracotta for the background, expertly balanced by details in navy blue, sky blue, and delicate shades of cream and ivory. The presence of abrash, subtle variations in color, lends additional depth and character.
The border system consists of multiple bands, highlighted by a wide navy blue stripe adorned with a continuous motif of palmettes and floral arabesques, flanked by thinner guard borders in light blue and ivory. This rectangular rug is an ideal piece to enrich classic interiors or to add a touch of elegance and history to modern spaces.
