This magnificent example of a Sarough rug originates from the renowned region of Persia, famous for its long tradition in weaving. Masterfully crafted using hand-carded wool for the pile and a cotton warp, it offers a soft yet durable texture that withstands the test of time.
The design is distinguished by an impressive lobed central medallion set against a deep navy blue field, gracefully extending into pendents. The field's background is richly adorned with an all-over pattern of stylized floral motifs and leaves, interspersed with small rosettes and palmettes, creating a visual effect of great depth. The predominant color palette includes intense blues, ruby reds, and cream, with accents of green and light blue enriching the composition.
The border consists of a series of concentric bands. The main border, in red, is embellished with a succession of floral cartouches and stylized palmettes, framed by thinner bands featuring meander and minor floral motifs, elegantly defining the entire piece. The knot density, ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, attests to the high quality and attention to detail, while the thickness of 1.2 cm ensures a pleasant underfoot sensation. A textile work of art that enhances any space with its history and timeless beauty.
