This magnificent Torkaman rug, originating from Persia, embodies the authenticity and artisanal mastery of nomadic tribes. Hand-knotted with hand-carded wool, it features a robust structure with a cotton warp. Its density of approximately 160,000-200,000 knots/sqm and thickness of 0.8 cm attest to the quality and durability of this piece.
The field is dominated by a fascinating succession of octagonal guls, distinctive motifs of the Torkaman tradition, often stylized with internal crosses and details recalling tribal iconography. Each gul is finely outlined and filled with a harmonious color palette, including cream, brown, black, and touches of petrol green on a vibrant burgundy red background.
The rich and complex border completes the design with geometric zigzag and stylized floral motifs, also typical of this culture. The slight color variations, known as abrash, add character and uniqueness to the rug, highlighting the natural dyeing process and manual craftsmanship. A Torkaman is not just a rug, but a piece of Persian history and tradition, capable of enriching any environment with its warm presence and timeless charm.
