This splendid Kilim, originating from Afghanistan, is a magnificent example of traditional textile craftsmanship. Entirely made with hand-carded wool, with a cotton warp, it features a robust and durable weave. The density, typical for a Kilim, ranges between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, and its thickness of approximately 0.3 cm makes it versatile and light.
The heart of the Kilim is dominated by an all-over design of vibrant diamond shapes, interconnected in a dynamic grid. The chromatic palette is rich and varied, with a predominance of rust and ocher tones in the central field, enriched by accents of green, blue, yellow, and touches of purple. These colors are often achieved with natural dyes, which can create a fascinating abrash effect, a testament to the authenticity and unique character of each piece.
The central field is framed by a series of borders, each with its own distinctive geometric motifs that echo and amplify the rug's vibrancy. This Kilim is a textile work of art that adds warmth, personality, and a touch of exoticism to any setting, from the living area to the office.
