This splendid Kilim, originating from Afghanistan, is a magnificent example of the ancient art of hand weaving. Crafted from hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, each piece is a unique work that reflects the rich cultural heritage and artisanal skill of nomadic peoples.
Its flatweave construction, typical of Kilims, makes it durable and reversible, perfect for high-traffic areas or as a distinctive decorative element. The density ranges between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm, with a thickness of just 0.3 cm, highlighting its thin yet resilient nature.
This Kilim stands out for its vibrant, all-over geometric pattern, characterized by a series of interconnected central diamonds in shades of orange, pink, light blue, and yellow. The side bands feature a variety of traditional motifs and color blocks, including dark blue, purple, and beige, creating a harmonious and dynamic contrast.
The multi-colored palette, with its pastel and bright hues, is enriched by subtle color variations, known as "abrash," which attest to the artisanal nature of the dyeing process and add depth and character to the rug. A versatile piece that brings warmth and personality to any interior, from the living room to the bedroom, and perfectly suitable as a runner.
