This splendid Kilim, originating from Afghanistan, is a magnificent example of nomadic textile art. Made with hand-carded wool on a cotton warp, it features a distinctive flat weave that makes it light and durable.
The design is characterized by a central field dominated by a sequence of vibrantly colored geometric rhombuses, framed by side bands in sky blue that show slight variations in shade, an effect known as abrash. Inside the rhombuses are smaller geometric motifs, while the side borders feature repetitive stylized designs.
The combination of vibrant colors – red, orange, yellow, pink, green, and blue – creates a fascinating contrast with the softer background, giving the rug a unique energy. A textile work of art that adds warmth and character to any environment, perfect for those seeking an authentic piece with a rich history.
